Cancel America Online AOL, What to Expect.![]() Navigation: Main page » Internet Articles Author: Michael Smetana Has Anyone Ever Tried to use America Online? Well Of course they have, just about everyone has tried to use AOL. I think they actually have some sort of Niche out that sucks you in. Here is my Story. I used to use America Online when I had a Dial up connection. So, We will asume that this was a few years ago. Anyway, They had a fairly reliable Dial up Service that connected quickly and usually had faster download speeds then other services that I had tried in the past. So I stuck with America Online for a while. Now in signing up for America Online (AOL) it requires using a Credit Card, for verification, no problem. So I used AOL for a few months untill I later decided that I wanted to Get Cable Internet. Cable Internet was about $50 dollars a month at that time so It was a large jump in cost. So I hooked up my Cable internet from Brighthouse Networks. I no longer needed AOL so I called AOL to have my account cancelled. Wouldn't you know it that I was on hold so long awaiting for Cancellation that I consistantly got disconnected. I called about 3 or 4 times and the same thing happened every time. I wasn't going to continue to spend all day on the phone to get nowhere with my cancellation of AOL. So, a few months later after trying again a few other ways, I called my Credit Card Company and was asked to dispute these charges in writing. So, now that I have been charged for 4 months of AOL and have been unable to cancel I finally submitted a dispute to get AOL Stopped. About another month from then, my Credit Card Company Called me and Stated that they blocked all payments from AOL and that if I had anymore problems like this one to give them a Call and they would streighten it out. Well, Later I even cancelled that credit card. I know that they were pretty helpful in resolving the matter but still took a few months to resolve it. I figured this way AOL couldn't do this to me again without obtaining a NEW credit card number. Well, I guess I was right. Later on I found that AOL links the computer and just about every single program and is almost impossible to remove. HA HA, so that explains why AOL consistantly charged me for this. I wasn't using AOL but it was using me.Articles |
