LANDSLIDE HAZARD ZONATION USING REMOTE SENSING AND GIS BASED WEIGHT OF EVIDENCE MODEL Landslides are one of the most destructive geological processes which in addition to killing people and animals, destroy residential and industrial developments as well as agricultural and forest lands. These are responsible for considerably greater socio-economic loss than is generally recognized. Hence, there is an urgent need to prepare landslide inventory maps in the highly landslide susceptible mountainous terrain. With the recent advancement in remote sensing and GIS technology, landslides can be well identified, mapped and transferred to the real world to produce a landslide inventory map. The aim of this study is to use a “working methodology” in which geoenvironmental parameters are statistically analyzed to develop a model to predict landslide prone areas. The weight of evidence model will be applied to the task of evaluating landslide susceptibility using GIS. The final result would be a map showing the probabilities of landslide occurrences or at least demarcation of areas where geological conditions are favorable for landslides to occur. The results of the analysis are compared with the landslide zonation map prepared by qualitative methods, thus assessing the utility of weight of evidence model. Thus the resultant maps can have tremendous utility in planning hilly area development programme.
Mechanic Modelling of the tenacity: Application for the Ring and Open End plied yarns. Abstract:
This work presents an analysis of a mechanical model for cotton plied yarns tenacity. Results show that the tenacity of a plied yarn depends on the parameters of twisting and the linear density. For verification of the theory, we have also applied this model for the ring and Open End plied yarns.
Comparison between experimental data and theoretical predictions showed that the predicted yarn tenacity is in reasonable agreement with experiment results.

The Electric Power Sector has over the past twenty five years witnessed a slow and steady decline leading to near complete failure of the system in 1999 at the beginning of the immediate past civilian government. The federal government of Nigeria had therefore embarked on an electric power sector reform program which will give birth to 18 companies unbundled from the defunct Nigeria Electric Power Authority (NEPA), and now Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN).
This paper seeks to examine these reforms and its effects on the power delivery systems with a view to providing stable power supply to its customers.
