RAW MATWEIAL AND FABRIC YARN CHARACTERISTICS OF CAMEL-HAIR, SAIDI WOOL AND THEIR BLEND (29 Sep 2007) Forty five fleeces of each of Camelids dromedaries (one-humped camel) and Saidi fat tailed sheep were collected after one year growth and were assigned to the following categories; G1 (100% camel hair), G2 (50% camel-hair and 50% Saidi wool) and G3 (100% Saidi wool).
It's clear that yarn characteristics affected by the characteristics of raw material. Moreover, most of yarn made steps play a vital role in yarn characteristics. This study aimed to evaluate the Characteristics of the raw materials of all studied groups as well as after fabricated it into yarns. In the same time, investigate the possibility of use camel hair in wool blends which will considered camel hair as a textile material not as a waste one.
The study illustrated that Camel-hair yarns were less tenacity 2.2 Rkm compared with Saidi wool alone (G3, 3.4 Rkm) or with camel-hair and Saidi wool blend (3.1Rkm). Also, G2 was found to have more regular yarn compared with G1. While, there were no significant differences between the camel-hair alone (G1) and the blend of both camel hair and wool (50% for each G2) in the yarn twisting, yarn metric count and elongation. This concluded that camel hair could be added to wool blends without any adverse effect on most yarn characteristics, which positively improve the value of camel hair as a useful textile material.
Physical properties like fiber diameter, staple strength, and loose wool bulk in relation with yarn characteristics were also discussed.
